Why We Love Solid Soap Bars!

Why We Love Solid Soap Bars!

A closer look at the benefits of choosing bar soap for skin, travel, and the planet

We’ll let you in on a little secret…

Our soap makers still chooses solid bar soap over liquid — even though we make both! There’s a reason bar soap remains a favourite, and it has a lot to do with performance, simplicity, and sustainability.

1. Solid Soap Captures More of the Good Stuff

Bar soap allows us to include nourishing oils and butters directly in the formulation. This makes them one of the gentlest, most moisturising options for cleansing.

While liquid soap can be a wonderful choice, especially for convenience, it doesn’t hold onto those rich oils the same way. Add too much oil, and it can separate and float — not ideal in a clear bottle or on your hands.

2. You Control the Dose

Solid soap gives you control over how much you use. For babies or facial cleansing, just a gentle swipe of a konjac sponge or hand over the bar is all that’s needed. For everyday body cleansing, use as much or as little as the task requires.

Plus, no tricky pumps or sticky caps. Great for children, older adults, or anyone with arthritis.

3. Better for the Environment

Choosing a soap bar is a simple, powerful way to reduce your environmental impact. Unlike liquid soaps that rely on plastic packaging, bar soaps are inherently low-waste. And because they’re made with minimal water content, you’re getting pure cleansing ingredients — not a bottle full of H2O.

Remember: recycling is the last resort. Reducing plastic in the first place is even better.

4. Skin-Friendly Ingredients

Our soap bars are formulated to cleanse without stripping the skin. While all soap removes surface oils (that’s what makes it effective), our formulas are designed to be gentle. Whether or not you need to moisturise afterwards depends on your skin type and your environment.

We never use:

  • Palm oil
  • Mineral oil
  • Sulphates
  • Synthetic fragrances
  • Synthetic preservatives

Instead, we use carefully chosen natural ingredients, which may include:

  • Pure essential oils
  • Nut and seed oils
  • Botanical extracts and infusions
  • Nut butters like shea and cacao
  • Olive oil
  • Goat’s milk or coconut cream
  • Clays and mineral colours

5. Travel-Friendly, Kid-Friendly, Beach-Friendly

Soap bars are dry, light, and simple. They’re perfect for:

  • Travel (no airport liquid limits)
  • Beach or pool use (wash away chlorine or salt quickly)
  • Camping or hiking (cut into smaller pieces for convenience)
  • Children (easy for little hands, no pump required)

Want to make your bars last even longer? Keep them dry between uses and store them out of damp. A single bar can last months with the right care. Check out our blog on How to Make Your Handmade Soap Last Longer.

6. A Smart Switch for Your Budget

Our soap bars are not only kind to your skin and the planet — they’re good value too. When you purchase a box of 10, you save $10 off the total price. Buying in bulk just makes sense.
