Natural fibres chosen for their purpose:

Eco Max uses plant fibres such as sisal, jute, Tampico and coconut fibre, selecting different textures for different jobs. Softer fibres suit gentle body washing, while firmer fibres provide the scrubbing strength needed for vegetables, cookware, garden tools and other practical cleaning tasks.

Useful tools for everyday routines:

The Eco Max range extends across body, hair, kitchen and garden care. At Washpool, you will find options including body and shower brushes, nail brushes, kitchen brushes, vegetable scrubbers, soap savers, wooden combs and gardening accessories.

Ethically handmade:

Many Eco Max brushes are handmade in Sri Lanka by a family-run producer that provides local women with skills training, flexible employment, a living wage, a safe working environment and access to an in-house crèche. Eco Max is endorsed as a Fair Trader of Australia by the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Designed with the full product life cycle in mind:

Eco Max considers the materials, construction, packaging and eventual disposal of its products. Plant fibres are renewable and biodegradable, while timbers may be sourced from plantation forests, trees at the end of their productive life or materials that would otherwise go to waste.

Choosing the right Eco Max product:

Consider where the product will be used and how much texture or scrubbing strength the job requires. Softer jute and sisal products may be better suited to gentle washing, while firm coconut fibre works particularly well for kitchen, vegetable and garden cleaning. Check each product listing for its specific materials, firmness, intended use and care instructions.

Caring for natural-fibre brushes:

Rinse brushes thoroughly after wet use, shake out excess water and allow them to dry in a well-ventilated position. Avoid leaving timber-handled products soaking in water or stored while damp. Individual care instructions may vary, so follow the guidance provided on the relevant product page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Eco Max brushes made from?

Materials vary between products and may include coconut fibre, sisal, jute, Tampico fibre, hemp and sustainably sourced timbers. Some brush designs also contain galvanised wire or a protective timber sealant. Refer to the individual listing for the complete materials used in each product.

Are Eco Max brushes plastic free?

Many Eco Max products are made without plastic, but construction and packaging can vary. We recommend checking the individual product listing rather than assuming every item has exactly the same components.

Are Eco Max brushes vegan?

Yes. Eco Max Brushes is certified by The Vegan Society, confirming that its manufacture, development and ingredients do not involve animal products, by-products or derivatives.

Are Eco Max brushes Fair Trade?

Eco Max is endorsed as a Fair Trader of Australia by the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand. Many of its brushes are handmade by women in Sri Lanka under employment practices designed to provide fair wages, flexibility and safe working conditions.

Can natural-fibre brushes be composted?

The untreated plant fibres and timber used in many Eco Max products can biodegrade or be composted at the end of their useful life. Any galvanised wire, synthetic cord, sealant, label or other non-compostable component should be separated and disposed of appropriately where possible. Check the individual product instructions before composting the whole item.

How should I dry an Eco Max brush?

Rinse it well, shake out excess water and place or hang it in a well-ventilated position. Allow the brush to dry thoroughly between uses and avoid leaving timber components soaking in water.

Which Eco Max brush should I choose for body care?

Choose according to your preferred texture and intended use. Softer fibres are generally better for delicate skin or customers new to body brushing, while firmer fibres provide stronger exfoliation. Read the individual product description carefully and use light pressure when trying a new brush.

Why do handmade brushes vary slightly?

Natural fibres and timber vary in colour, grain, shape and texture. Because many Eco Max products are finished by hand, small differences between individual pieces are expected and do not usually affect their function.
